A romance with a twist… Sophia Nelson returns to her home town in Yorkshire, England to begin a new job as tour guide at Heaton Abbey House. There, she meets the reclusive Thomas, Baron Heaton, a lonely workaholic. Despite having a rule never to become involved with her boss, Sophia can’t deny how she finds him incredibly attractive. When she overhears the secret surrounding his parentage, she is torn. But is it the attraction or the fear of opening a Pandora’s box that makes her keep quiet about it? How long can she stay at the abbey knowing what she does?
What we say – review by Nikki Mason:
The title, cover and tagline ‘a romance with a twist’ has me imagining that New Blood was going to be a vampire novel or a gothic romance. Not so, instead it’s a rather fun romp in a large Yorkshire country estate. Don’t get me wrong – it was brilliant at what it did, I just felt a little misled somehow.
Sophia and Thomas have obviously got the hots for each other from the start and this book really crackles with sexual tension. Add to that family secrets, a rambling house, a vengeful drug dealer and an array of calamitous parents and you’ve got one hell of a book! Each new page brings a new adventure.
I’m sounding flippant perhaps, but actually there were some issues tackled here that were fascinating but the serious moments were matched with a great wealth of fun and some super sexy romance.
