CharlotteReviewer & Site Owner
Charlotte classes herself as a loyal, hardworking kinda gal. Her earliest book memory is being a wee slip of a girl totally in awe of Judy Blume's Are You There God It's Me Margaret. YA and NA books have her heart, but Fiona Walker will forever be her literary hero. On the best thing about being a book reviewer, she says . . . "The books. So many books! I've discovered so many authors and genres that I never ordinarily would have and it's an amazing feeling to find yourself utterly obsessed with a book that you thought you wouldn't enjoy. Of course, talking to authors on a daily basis is a pretty good perk too!"
A chatty reading nut, amateur actress and hit-and-miss baker is our Nikki. She can't remember a time when she didn't love books and the memory of her six-year-old self being read The Hobbit by her dad will always have a special place in her heart. Give Nikki a gothic Victorian novel or ask her to quote anything by the Brontës and she'll be in heaven. What does she love about being a book reviewer . . . "Getting to read things you wouldn't choose otherwise. I also love reading while I'm having my breakfast and knowing that however badly the rest of the day goes, at least it started productively and with something I love doing! It's my dream job!”
Noemie is the site's aspiring poet and almost always reads the ending first when starting a new book. Her first book memory is the stuff dreams are made of: her mum reading her The Wickedest Witch in The World while sitting on a bench made by her grandpa and gazing out at the sea sparkling in the sun. Her favourite books include Steve Jobs' autobiography (actually, all of the site's reviewers worship at the Apple alter), Rose Madder and Jane Eyre. Noemie says she loves reviewing for BestChickLit because "It's an interesting site - we don't just have the bubblegum pink happy in every single book we review."
Lizzie needs charging with a regular supply of tea and books in order to maintain her sunny disposition and desire to create. Oscar Wilde was her first book love but she'll follow anyone who can create entire worlds with nothing but words. Anything by Roald Dahl floats her boat, and she loves BestChickLit because . . . "It takes me out of my comfort zone of familiar genres and throws me into a digital library with no sense of order hierarchy. I love it!”
