What they say:
‘Life for Paul sounds like your typical country song. He comes from a broken home, his wife is divorcing him, he’s got no place to live, he’s losing custody of his son, and his sergeant, who’s sleeping with his wife, is a loud-mouthed braggart who won’t let up on him – not even at work.
Leanne’s caught her (now) ex cheating on her again, but before she can give him the what-for, she’s wrongfully arrested for soliciting – by Paul and his partner. One thing leads to another and things could be looking up for Paul, except for Leanne’s friends – quarrelling mom Nicky and financial goddess Jade – have it out for her ex.
Leanne wants closure, Paul wants a home, and Nicky and Jade want revenge. Blackmail, lies, adultery, entrapment. Will it all work out in the end or will Paul uphold the law? It sounds like he needs a Warrant for Love’
What we say – review by Francesca Verbeeten:
Note from the reviewer: ‘After meeting Sheryl Browne at the 2012 Festival of Romance and promptly spilling my wine over her gorgeous dress, I apologised profusely, promising to read her latest release and review it for the site. Having finally reached it in my ‘to read’ pile, feeling terrible it’s taken so long to get to it, I found it was well worth the wait . . .’
This book is an absolute gem and totally hilarious. The story follows three women with one thing in common – failed relationships. When Leanne catches her husband cheating again she just wants out, but her friend, Jade, and sister, Nicky, want to plan revenge . . . and don’t we all love a bit of revenge?! Fictional revenge, that is. The characters are all fantastic and interesting, each having their own problems and dramas, with Browne balancing each of their lives perfectly with the main story. Jade was my favourite, I felt I could really connect and understand her. She’s had a sad past that’s made her one tough cookie; she’s ruthless and strong, but the perfect best friend and she’d do anything for Leanne and Nicky.
This is such a fab read and has everything you want from a romcom: the characters are likable and the storyline is funny, but never over-the-top and unrealistic. There were moments/scenes that had me in stitches; you won’t believe the situations these girls manage to get themselves in to! Browne has entwined their stories so perfectly and everything all comes together neatly – it just shows you that whatever life throws at you it will it all work out in the end.
What we say – review by Elizabeth A. Wright:
Sheryl Browne is a master of bringing in the reader and making them connect with the characters. One moment you’re sitting reading a novel and the next you are right there, in the story and truly involved in the lives of Leanne, Nicky and Jade. You can’t help but love the feisty female characters she has created, not to mention the dreamy PC Paul Davis!
Sheryl knows and portrays the exasperating nature of real relationships perfectly and it is surely a sign of the strength of her writing that you want to know more and more about each of the characters. While on the surface it is full of life and absolutely hilarious, underneath it all the issues that Paul and Leanne are dealing with are serious and that is what really draws the reader in. This really is a book to devour – it’s like a take-away dinner, you get it home and just have to nom it in one!
“Sheryl really does keep you guessing what will happen and if certain characters will get their comeuppance.“
